And finally… lifted

A thief who approached police officers to ask for a lift home while still carrying stolen goods has been jailed.

Gary Gibson, 32, grabbed a bizarre range of items while raiding a home in Dundee, Scotland in March.

As well as stealing an iPod and a video games console, he grabbed coffee, a yoga mat, a beard trimmer and a pair of women’s gloves.

Hours later, he flagged down a police car, claimed to have been assaulted and asked for a lift home, the Evening Telegraph reports.

Officers instead searched the serial offender and found a number of stolen items, leading to his arrest and prosecution.

He admitted the thefts and was sentenced in Dundee Sheriff Court to 16 months’ imprisonment.
