EBA Spring Series: The Future of Work
The Employment Bar Association (EBA) is organising an online series, ‘The world of work, post-Covid’.
The first of the series commences this Thursday, 18 March at 4.30pm.
The event will be opened by Tánaiste Leo Varadkar. There will be a presentation entitled: ‘Algorithmic management – how big data is transforming the workplace’ by Aislinn Kelly-Lyth of the University of Oxford, who will be followed by Danny McCoy, CEO of IBEC and Dr Shana Cohen, director of TASC. The event will be chaired by Alex White SC, chair of the EBA.
With an end to the pandemic hopefully in sight, this is an opportune time to think and plan for the future. Digital technologies and artificial intelligence are transforming the workplace – arguably altering the very nature of the employment relationship itself.
Many of these changes seem likely to be accelerated by the experience of the last year. This series provides a forum to reflect on the world of work, how it has changed, how it is likely to change in the future, and what kinds of laws, strategies and policies are needed to protect employees, while at the same time fostering innovation and economic progress.
