English barrister delivers LGBTI asylum masterclass

Mr Chelvan, delivering the masterclass for the Irish Refugee Council, provided training on the specific needs of asylum seekers claiming on grounds of sexual or gender identity. The two-hour masterclass also included audience participation.

The event was organised as part of the Irish Refugee Council’s increased commitment to improving understanding and awareness of asylum law across the profession.

Next week, Mr Chelvan will travel to Scotland to present a new paper on asylum at a roundtable event hosted by the University of Glasgow School of Law.
