Government nominates three judges for appointment

The Government has agreed to nominate three judges for appointment to the High Court and District Court.
Denis McDonald SC, who was called to the bar in 1986 and to the Inner Bar in 2000, has been nominated for appointment to the High Court. His practice focused on commercial law.
Meanwhile, solicitors Mary Cashin and Geraldine Carthy have been nominated for appointment to the District Court.
Ms Cashin has worked as a solicitor in private practice since 1983 and is currently head of the litigation and dispute resolution department at Cashin & Assoc. Solicitors in Ennis, Co Clare.
Ms Carthy was admitted as a solicitor in 2000 and is currently a partner and head of family law at Reidy Stafford in Co Kildare.
