Hundreds of Department of Justice staff moved into new positions

Hundreds of Department of Justice staff are being moved into new positions over the next five weeks as part of a period of “unprecedented change”, according to reports.

According to the Irish Examiner, 100 civil servants have already been redeployed and 350 more will be moved in the weeks to come.

Staff are being assigned more specific roles with a view to developing expertise in particular areas, instead of working across a broad remit, the paper reports.

The staffing changes are part of the major internal reforms which Justice Minister Charlie Flanagan is aiming to conclude by October 2019.

The Department has been realigned with the establishment of new “pillars”: a civil justice and equality pillar and a criminal justice pillar, supported by a corporate affairs pillar.
