Land of the free: US cops arrest six-year-old girl

New bodycam footage shows the moment an officer in Florida arrested a six-year-old girl as she cried.

Kaia Rolle was taken to a police vehicle with her hands fastened behind her back because she had had a tantrum at her school in Orlando.

Kaia, who had kicked and punched staff, had calmed down by the time police arrived.

When she asked officer Dennis Turner what the zip ties he had were for, he responded:  “They’re for you.”

After the child began crying a second officer restrained her.

As officers led the six-year-old to the police car she said: “I don’t wanna go in a police car.”

The second officer said: “You have to.”

“Please, give me a second chance,” she cried.

The footage of the September incident, which was released this week, also shows Mr Turner boasting about having arrested other children, including a seven-year-old – for shoplifting.

After school employees told him that Kaia was six, he replied: “Now she has broken the record.”

He was subsequently fired for breaching policy.

Florida currently has no minimum legal age for arrest.
