NI: Lawyer who made history for Irish women’s hockey team addresses DWF diversity event
Belfast solicitor Lizzie Colvin, who balances a career in law with the demands of international hockey, has encouraged other women to follow her lead.
Ms Colin, an employment law specialist with DWF Belfast, was part of an “Inspiring Women” panel event aimed at promoting and supporting inclusion in the workplace.
Earlier this year, Irish Legal News reported that Ms Colvin was one of five lawyers on the Irish team which made history by winning silver in the Hockey Women’s World Cup.
Sharing her experience as part of DWF’s Diversity Week, she joined a panel of top women business leaders including Alison Charnock, head of legal at Morrison’s Supermarket; Heather Crosby, partner at Deloitte UK; and Kate Headley, director of The Clear Company.
Ms Colvin said: “I was proud to represent DWF Belfast at this Diversity Week event, to share my story and to play my part in broadcasting the diversity message. DWF has been incredibly supportive, encouraging me to develop my skills both at work and on the hockey pitch so I’m more than happy to give my time to help other women realise their full potential.”
Ty Jones, DWF’s director of corporate social responsibility and engagement, said DWF also held a number of Women into Leadership roundtable events during Diversity Week “to empower women to be change-makers and commit to achieving positive transformation in the profession”.
