London Irish Lawyers Association launches mentorship programme

The London Irish Lawyers Association (LILA) has announced a new mentoring programme to allow experienced Irish solicitors and barristers working in London to provide careers advice to more junior members.

Mentors and mentees joined members of the LILA executive committee at a launch event hosted by Brown Rudnick LLP.

Gráinne Mellon, chair of LILA, said: “We have been overwhelmed at the interest in the programme, not just from mentees, but also from mentors.

“We are fortunate to have some of the most experienced and senior legal professionals from Ireland participating.”

Judith Houston, co-ordinator for the programme, added: “Providing junior LILA members, some of whom have only recently moved to London, with support in navigating the legal market and making them feel welcome here is incredibly important to LILA. We have fifteen mentorship pairs on our inaugural programme – we hope this figure will grow over the coming years.”

Applications for next year’s programme will open in autumn 2019.

LILA is a professional organisation for lawyers based in London with an affinity to the island of Ireland. Its members span the entirety of the legal industry, from judges to in-house counsel as well as barristers and solicitors.
