Mr Justice Séamus Woulfe is set to hear Supreme Court cases for the first time next month following the row over his attendance at a controversial dinner during the Covid-19 pandemic.

According to the legal diary published by the Courts Service yesterday, Mr Justice Woulfe will sit on Thursday 4 February, Friday 12 February and Friday 19 February 2021.

The former Attorney General faced pressure to resign, including from the Chief Justice, after the publication of a report into his attendance at a Oireachtas Golf Society dinner in August.

However, his future on the bench was all but assured after he refused to resign and the Oireachtas overwhelmingly rejected a motion for his removal under Article 35.4 of the Constitution.
