Dublin-based firm Mason Hayes & Curran (MHC) has promoted Oisín Tobin from senior associate to technology partner and head of the firm’s newly-opened San Francisco office.

Mr Tobin has experience formulating and implementing global privacy and data transfer strategies, advising on the development and rollout of innovative technologies, and acting for businesses facing EU data protection investigations or engaging in privacy-related litigation.

Working between Dublin and San Francisco, he also counsels West Coast companies on their international expansion plans.

Philip Nolan, head of technology at Mason Hayes & Curran, said: “We are delighted to announce Oisín’s appointment as a partner. He has quickly established himself as a leading technology lawyer who works collaboratively with clients, delivering advice that is not only commercial and strategically informed, but has also underpinned some of the most innovative technology products and services that have been launched in the EU in recent years.”

Mr Tobin added: “Working closely with clients provides unique insights into how their businesses work, and allows us to make practical contributions to each client’s objectives.

“I’m looking forward to further strengthening our team’s position as the leading technology, media and communications practice in the country, advising some of the world’s leading tech companies.”
