Twenty-three barristers lined up for the inner bar

Twenty-three barristers - 20 men and three women - have been approved for admission to the inner bar, The Irish Times reports.

It is the last time that an advisory committee of the Chief Justice, the President of the High Court, the Attorney General and the chairperson of the Bar Council will make recommendations to the Government regarding the grant of patents of precedence.

Under the Legal Services Regulation Act 2015, future recommendations will be made by a new advisory committee including the president of the Law Society of Ireland and a lay member of the Legal Services Regulatory Authority.
