A&L Goodbody named Irish law firm of the year
A&L Goodbody has been named the Irish law firm of the year at The Lawyer European Awards 2020, besting finalists Arthur Cox, Mason Hayes & Curran LLP and William Fry.
The annual awards, which took place virtually on Monday, recognise and celebrate excellence across the European legal market and attract entries from over 120 independent law firms headquartered in Europe and global firms throughout the continent.
Arthur Cox was the only Irish firm to claim a prize in a Europe-wide category, claiming the accolade of European Corporate Team of the Year, for which A&L Goodbody was also shortlisted.
Cian McCourt, head of corporate and M&A at Arthur Cox, said: “We are very pleased to receive the award of European Corporate Team of the Year. It is a recognition of the strength of our team at Arthur Cox and our position as Ireland’s leading corporate and M&A practice. Over the past year, we have supported our clients on some of the most significant Irish and international deals.”
Baker McKenzie, which employs hundreds of staff at its global services centre in Belfast, was named Global Firm of the Year. DAC Beachcroft, which employs around 60 lawyers in Dublin, was also shortlisted.
