A&L Goodbody wins recognition from China Business Law Journal
A&L Goodbody has won two awards from the China Business Law Journal in recognition of its high-profile work in 2019.
The firm claimed the Aviation Firm of the Year and Deal of the Year awards from the CBLJ, which recognises landmark China-related deals every year with a focus on overall significance, deal size, complexity and innovation.
Welcoming the aviation award, Marie O’Brien, partner and head of aviation and transport finance at the firm, said: “This accolade affirms our team’s position as being the Irish law firm of choice for experienced and sophisticated advice on the largest and most complex aviation finance transactions.”
Meanwhile, the firm’s insurance and M&A teams welcomed the Deal of the Year award for advising China Reinsurance Corporation on its $950 million acquisition of Chaucer Insurance Company DAC in Ireland as part of its acquisition of the Chaucer group.
James Grennan, partner and head of insurance, said: “We are delighted with this recognition. China Reinsurance is Asia’s largest reinsurance company and this significant acquisition was a new milestone in the company’s global expansion.”
He added: “A key element to the deal’s success was our ability to provide a full range of services across our insurance and M&A teams.”
