International law firm Addleshaw Goddard has seen revenue growth of 45 per cent in Ireland since its merger with Eugene F Collins in 2022, the firm has said.

The firm, which is moving to new premises in Dublin city centre next January, says growth has been driven by strong performance in its corporate practice and the addition in the past 12 months of new tax, financial regulation and energy practices.

Its commercial property practice offset a market downturn with strong activity across retail, housing and investor deals. Addleshaw Goddard’s international footprint, which includes a new Madrid office, has also resulted in significant new business referrals, particularly from the UK.

The firm’s headcount has increased by 15 per cent over the past two years, with 135 staff currently at the firm. The planned move to a new 27,722 ft² office — a 42 per cent increase on its current footprint — will accommodate over 200 people.

Mark Walsh, head of Ireland at Addleshaw Goddard, said: “To deliver double-digit growth each year since the merger is very satisfying and once again we are targeting double-digit growth in 2024.

“We knew that the cultural fit was going to be key to the success of the merger and that has proven to be the case.

“Strong relationships have been developed with our colleagues across the Addleshaw Goddard network and this is exposing our lawyers to new ways of working, including access to bespoke technology and AI supports, and most importantly, they are getting the opportunity to do interesting and challenging work.

“The addition of tax, financial regulation and energy practices in the past 12 months has brought a full-service offering to our clients and we will continue to invest in these areas. Our move to a modern new office space will facilitate our growth strategy as we look to retain and attract the best talent.

“Internationally Addleshaw Goddard is seeking to double in size by 2030 and Ireland is a key market in that ambitious growth strategy.

“Since the merger, we have seen a number of very talented and experienced lawyers return to the firm which is a very positive reflection of the exciting work that we are doing and the opportunities that exist within Addleshaw Goddard both in Ireland and across the international network.”
