All steamed up: Master of High Court breaks window panes in the Four Courts
Master of the High Court, Edmund Honohan SC, had to break three window panes in the Four Courts with a hammer to dispel “a fug” in his courtroom, The Sunday Times reports.
According to the newspaper, Mr Honohan took action after the Courts Service failed to respond to his complaints that the stuffiness of his courtroom was to blame for him and a registrar repeatedly falling ill with a cold.
He told his court before Christmas that he had been forced to take a hammer to windows, which he later said could not be opened because the mechanism had been painted over.
The windows have now been repaired and can be opened.
A spokesperson for the Courts Service added: “Checks have been carried out on the room’s air conditioning system and it is fully functioning.”
