The DoNotPay smartphone app will instruct a defendant on what to say over the course of courtroom proceedings in which they are challenging a speeding ticket.

The test of the technology will take place in the US in February, but the DoNotPay developers have not disclosed the exact date or location, New Scientist reports.

Should the robot lawyer lose the case, the company has promised to cover the cost of the fine for the defendant.

DoNotPay is billed on its website as the “world’s first robot lawyer”.
