And finally… atonement
A former library employee has been accused of stealing at least $1.3 million in printer toner over a period of 12 years.
A report alleges that Randall Whited, a former employee of Austin Public Library in Texas, fraudulently bought and stole toner, then sold it online.
He is also accused of using an APL credit card to buy electronics and other goods for home use, KXAN reports.
The report says “poor practices and procedures provided an opportunity to Whited to steal from the city during his tenure”.
Whited allegedly bought “at least $1.5 million” worth of toner from October 2007 to July 2019, ostensibly for the library.
