And finally… bad habits
A religious order has been told to reinstate a historic castle folly that it partly demolished.
The Sisters of the Sacred Hearts of Jesus and Mary had demolished almost the entire 19th century folly on the grounds of the former Bessborough Mother and Baby Home in Cork.
The folly had been subject to a protection request but was not “technically fully protected”, a local councillor told the Irish Examiner.
Cork City Council launched enforcement proceedings and has now requested a proposal from the Sisters for the full reinstatement of the folly.
