And finally… blade runners
Armed police on rollerblades will patrol the streets of one of the world’s largest cities under a strange new initiative.
The new armed rollerblading unit in Karachi, Pakistan has been established to help crack down on street thefts and harassment.
The police force has released video footage of the officers’ training ahead of their official deployment next month.
Farrukh Ali, chief of the unit, told Pakistani newspaper DAWN: “We felt we needed to come up with an innovative approach to control street crime.”
Policewoman Aneel Aslam added: “This is just the beginning. This rollerblading will really benefit us.
“With this training, we can reach narrow alleys very quickly where it is usually difficult to go.”
