Rohan Beyts, 62, was charged under the Civic Government (Scotland) Act for allegedly urinating on Trump’s golf course in Aberdeenshire, Scotland early last year.

She has said she is “relieved” that the case has been dropped - but will continue with her own civil claim against the golf course for breach of privacy and damages, alleging she was filmed and photographed by staff and reporters while using a public footpath to cross the course.

The committed environmentalist praised the “tremendous support I have received, including from people who have played the course”.

A spokesman for the Crown Office said: “Following a review of all facts and circumstances the case, including new evidence which has come to light, the procurator-fiscal instructed there be no proceedings.”
