The Nigerian woman, who has not been named, broke the military’s code of conduct by “indulging in romance while in uniform”, the BBC reports.

The proposal was from a young man in the government’s military-run youth training scheme and was made in the middle of a training programme.

A video of the unusual proposal went viral on social media – before landing the pair in hot water.

Army spokesman Gen Clement Nwachukwu said: “Her task was to train the youth corps members and not to indulge in amorous relationship with any of them.”
