And finally… covfefe kerfuffle
A US politician has introduced a new bill to archive the President’s social media posts - the Communications Over Various Feeds Electronically for Engagement (COVFEFE) Bill.
The snarkily-titled bill has been introduced to the House of Representatives by Mike Quigley, Democrat congressman from Illinois.
The bill proposes to amend the Presidential Records Act to include social media as a documentary material.
Rep Quigley said: “If the President is going to take to social media to make sudden public policy proclamations, we must ensure that these statements are documented and preserved for future reference.”
He also pointed to the importance of archiving due to the President’s “frequent deletion of tweets”.
Trump’s now-infamous ‘covfefe’ tweet was online for several hours before it was deleted.
