And finally… eye for an eye

Drivers who dazzle their fellow motorists with full-beam headlights have been punished by being forced to stare into the lights for a minute.

Police in southern China have posted photos of the scheme on Weibo, saying: “Tonight we are carrying out punishments using a high beam.”

Punished drivers are forced to pay 300 yuan (£36) and stare at the beam for a minute.

Reaction to the initiative has been largely positive. One Weibo user gained 12,000 likes after saying “Am I the only one who thought a minute was too short?”

Another called it “long overdue”, though one user said the practice a “human rights violation”.
