And finally… fake news
Fur robes given to former US president Donald Trump by the Saudi royal family have turned out to be fake.
The gifts, which were given to Trump during his first-ever foreign visit as president in 2017, were seized by US authorities this summer.
Lawyers for the White House had determined that possession of the robes, which appeared to be made with white tiger and cheetah fur, as well as an ivory dagger likely violated animal welfare legislation.
However, a US spokesman told The New York Times that inspectors have now “determined the linings of the robes were dyed to mimic tiger and cheetah patterns and were not comprised of protected species”.
Foreign policy experts have said the revelations are embarrassing for the image-obsessed Saudi royals.
