And finally… fast food
A mac and cheese manufacturer is being sued for $5 million over claims its “ready in three-and-a-half minutes” label is slightly inaccurate.
A new lawsuit alleges that the time advertised on Velveeta’s microwaveable mac and cheese doesn’t account for the time needed to open the packaging or stir the product, among other things.
Florida woman Amanda Ramirez is seeking the seven-figure sum in damages from manufacturer Kraft, who she claims is profiting from false advertising, CNN reports.
She “paid more for the product than she would have paid and would not have purchased it or paid less had she known the truth”, her complaint states.
Ms Ramirez is also seeking punitive damages and an order requiring the company to “engage in a corrective advertising campaign”.
A spokesperson for Kraft Heinz Foods Company said: “We are aware of this frivolous lawsuit and will strongly defend against the allegations in the complaint.”
