And finally… grade inflation
An Oxford graduate is suing his alma mater because he believes his university grades have stood in the way of a world-class legal career.
Faiz Siddiqui has made a loss of earnings claim for over £1 million.
He studied modern history at Oxford and claims his tuition in a specialist course on Indian imperial history was shockingly poor.
He later went on to qualify as a solicitor.
But Mr Siddiqui has told the High Court in London that the poor tuition has prevented him becoming the international commercial lawyer he could have been if the university had given him a 1st class degree instead of the 2:1 with which he graduated.
The university is strongly defending its case - citing, for example, the sixteen years that have passed since his time at the university.
A judgment is expected later this month, The Times reports.
