And finally… hard cheese
A chef has launched a lawsuit against the famous Michelin guide after an inspector stripped him of his third star – allegedly because he wrongly assumed his cheese soufflé used cheddar.
Marc Veyrat, a celebrity French chef, said the reviewer “insulted our region” after wrongly suggesting he had used English Cheddar instead of the French Reblochon, Beaufort, and Tomme cheeses.
He said the cheeses in the soufflé had a yellow colour because of saffron used in the dish.
Veyrat, who told French magazine Le Point that he had suffered six months of depression due to the review, will argue his case in court at an initial hearing at the end of November, AFP reports.
A spokesperson for Michelin said they “regret [Veyrat’s] unreasonable persistence with his accusations”, but will “carefully study his demands and respond calmly”.
