The unsuspecting troops who ate the cupcakes reported a sudden onset of dehydration, overheating, fatigue, confusion, dry mouth and paranoia.

They were forced to abandon the training exercise, part of an intensive three-week combat training scenario taking place in summer 2018.

Bombardier Chelsea Cogswell has been charged with eight counts of administering a noxious substance, nine counts of conduct to the prejudice of good order and discipline, and one count of behaving in a disgraceful manner, CTV News reports.

A spokesperson for the Judge Advocate General’s office said: “A review of our court martial records indicate that this is the first time a member has faced a court martial for allegedly administering cannabis to colleagues without their consent.”
