And finally… Judge Barbie
They may not resemble UK Supreme Court head Lady Hale, or the veteran US Supreme Court Justice, Ruth Bader Ginsburg, but it’s hoped that a new career-themed range of Judge Barbie dolls will encourage more women to take up the law.
Toymaker Mattel said the doll, available in a variety of skin tones and hairstyles, was created because only a third of US state judges are women.
The new doll, clad in American-style judicial robes, is part of the toymaker’s efforts to close the “dream gap”.
Lisa McKnight, global head of Barbie, told USA Today: “Barbie has had over 200 careers. We like to say: ‘There isn’t a plastic ceiling that Barbie hasn’t broken.’”
