And finally… last words
Funeral directors in the UK have been ordered to display a standardised price list in their windows and on their websites.
The Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) gave the funerals sector three months to implement changes to make it easier for families to arrange a funeral within their budget.
The deadline has now passed and funeral directors are now legally required to display the headline price of a funeral as well as the price of individual items and additional products.
Martin Coleman, CMA panel inquiry chair, said: “The final cost of a funeral should never come as a surprise.”
The new rules also apply to crematorium operators and include a ban on incentivising hospitals or care homes to refer customers to them.
