Samuel J. Rabin Jr., an attorney in Miami, Florida, attended the court in a full hazmat suit with gloves, respirator mask and face shield.

Mr Rabin was given the opportunity to attend the hearing via Zoom, but chose to attend - with suitable precautions.

“A sentencing is the most important stage of a person’s life that’s facing a criminal case, and I just think a lawyer has an ethical obligation to be standing there with them,” he told Law.com.

The judge “had no issue with me wearing it”, he added. One local judge even suggested on Twitter that next time he could wear “a tie on the outside of the hazmat suit”.
