And finally… liquidated
A Stalin-themed kebab shop has been apparently liquidated by state officials less than a week after opening its doors.
Police have detained the owner of the controversial Stal’in Doner kebab shop, where food was named after Soviet figures and staff wore NKVD uniforms, The Times reports.
The restaurant’s menu included a “Stalinskaya” kebab and another named after Lavrentiy Beria, former chief of the NKVD, a forerunner to the KGB.
However, it has been closed since owner Stanislav Voltman’s arrest amid an outcry from government figures.
Mr Voltman said he opened the shop because he was “interested in Stalin, but I’m not a fan”.
