Police began to tail Johanna Gardell, 38, after she allegedly stole a pickup truck and struck a number of vehicles with it.

The low-speed pursuit was called off for “safety reasons”, but Ms Gardell was shortly spotted pulling into a McDonald’s drive-thru to order food.

Officers then moved to arrest her, while she tried to escape again but got the allegedly stolen vehicle stuck in a pile of mulch, ABC News reports.

Ms Gardell now faces charges including failure to stop for police, leaving the scene of an accident with personal injury, assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon, malicious mischief to motor vehicle, disturbing the peace, disorderly conduct and use of motor vehicle without authority, among several others.
