And finally… one-hit wonder
A military reservist has been arrested after allegedly applying to be a hitman on a spoof website called “rentahitman.com”.
Josiah Ernesto Garcia, 21, a US Air National Guardsman, faces up to 10 years’ imprisonment after being charged with the use of interstate facilities in the commission of murder-for-hire.
He allegedly submitted a CV through the website, in which he said he was “an expert marksman” nicknamed “Reaper”, which was forwarded by the site operators to the authorities.
Garcia subsequently allegedly agreed to kill someone for $5,000 (around £4,000) after meeting an undercover FBI agent, NBC News reports.
He accepted a down payment of $2,500 (around £2,000) and continued to discuss the job with FBI agents, who later arrested in him in a swoop on his home, during which they recovered an “AR-style rifle”.
