And finally… parental leave
The former head of a global law firm has been jailed for a month after paying to rig his daughter’s college entrance exam.
Gordon Caplan, 53, who resigned as co-chairman of Willkie, Farr and Gallagher after his arrest, is the latest parent convicted in the college admissions bribery scandal sweeping the US.
He paid $75,000 to a college admissions consultant who then bribed an exam invigilator to correct his daughter’s entrance exam, TIME reports. The lawyer said he kept the arrangement secret from his daughter.
US District Judge Indira Talwani yesterday sentenced Mr Caplan to a month in prison, as well as imposing a $50,000 fine, 250 hours of community service and one year of supervised release, The Washington Post reports.
