And finally… police bust
Breast implants are not an obstacle to becoming a police officer, a court in Germany has ruled after a three-year legal battle.
An unnamed 32-year-old woman, currently working as a nurse, took legal action after her application to join the police in North Rhine-Westphalia was rejected in 2013.
The police said they had received medical advice that the silicone implants could tear or rupture in the course of police work.
While she lost her initial case, her appeal has now succeeded.
The Administrative Court in Gelsenkirchen overturned the rejection after receiving a medical opinion from a plastic surgeon which said there was not enough evidence to support the police’s conclusion.
