And finally… schlock and awe
A judge has blasted the last two Star Wars films as “mediocre and schlocky” in an otherwise dry judgment on the labelling of cooking oil.
Judge Kenneth K. Lee, sitting in the US Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, summed up the case as “How to Lose a Class Action Settlement in 10 Ways”.
The judge pointed out that ConAgra Foods, the subject of the lawsuit, could not make a commitment to stop advertising its product as “100% Natural” because it had sold that part of the business to another company.
“That is like George Lucas promising no more mediocre and schlocky Star Wars sequels shortly after selling the franchise to Disney,” he said. “Such a promise would be illusory.”
In a footnote, he added: “As evident by Disney’s production of The Last Jedi and The Rise of Skywalker.”
