Corporal Brian Bossio, investigating the case in Stuart, Florida, said: “If you are wanted by the police, it’s probably not a good idea to use the ‘Wanted of the Week’ poster of yourself as your profile pic.”

The man, Mack Yearwood, 42, was wanted in relation to an alleged battery at a Florida home.

When police searched for Mr Yearwood they found two outstanding warrants in Florida – and found his Facebook page. With Mr Yearwood’s own help, they were able to arrest him in relation to those warrants.

And his situation was set to worsen when police finally caught up with him.

Corporal Bossio said: “When he was putting his jeans on, a bag of weed fell out,” – allowing police to charge him with possession of cannabis.

The police incident report states that Mr Yearwood asked them not to charge him for that.
