And finally… taken for a ride
A taxi driver who allegedly charged unsuspecting tourists more than four times the standard rate for a trip from an airport to a hotel has been reported to police.
The tourists, from Hong Kong, were allegedly charged €230 for a ride from Charles de Gaulle Airport to their hotel in Paris city centre – more than four times the official €53 price.
They then complained to the local taxi association, Les Nouveaux Taxis Parisiens (LNTP), who confirmed he was an official taxi driver and reported him to the police, The Local reports.
The association’s president Jean Barreira told Le Figaro: “This is a real taxi, it’s one of ours. This gentleman has cast shame on our profession.”
