And finally… top tips
An American lawyer has become a Facebook hit after sharing tongue-in-cheek legal tips on the social media platform.
L. Scott Briscoe, a lawyer in West Virginia, has taken to sharing pointed pieces of advice based on “actual events that occurred over the nineteen years of my practice so far”.
His page - L. Scott Briscoe’s Free Legal Tips - has accumulated over 15,000 likes since it was set up two years ago.
Today’s tip - the 53rd shared so far - reads: “After convincing the judge to let you leave jail for a relative’s funeral, do not call your cousin from your jail pod phone, under the sign stating your calls are monitored and recorded, asking him to drop the drugs in said deceased relative’s casket for you to retrieve.”
Another - number 38 - reads: “When appearing in court, do not wear the same exact outfit AND accessories you wore during your crime. Also, avoid security cameras.”
And Briscoe repeatedly refers back to his first tip, shared in February 2014: “DO NOT post photos of yourself committing crimes A, B, and C. They will become State’s Exhibits 1, 2, and 3.”
