And finally… unforeseen consequences
A new social media trend which encourages young people to lie in front of oncoming traffic has been condemned by gardaí.
The “ghosting” trend sees people challenged to lie on roads with a sheet over them in an attempt to stop oncoming traffic.
An Garda Síochána issued a statement on the trend after a young girl was injured in the south of Ireland while “ghosting”.
She is continuing to be treated for injuries sustained to her back, torso and ankle, but is no longer in hospital.
Gardaí said: “An Garda Síochána are urging people not to engage in this social media trend. Gardaí are particularly appealing to parents to educate their children on the dangers of participating in such activity and to highlight the importance of being seen while using Irish roads.”
