Jail authorities said Wisconsin man Tavier Holling, 30, began pounding on their door early on Sunday morning before growing impatient and smashing his way in.

After crawling through the broken door, Mr Holling said there was a warrant out for his arrest and he wanted to turn himself in.

However, police officers arriving on the scene found that he did not in fact have a warrant, Channel3000.com reports.

Nonetheless, he was placed under arrest for various offences including damage to property.
