And finally… what’s my age again?
People in South Korea are set to become a year younger under new legislation scrapping the century-old “Korean age” counting system.
Under the Korean age system, a person turns one on the day they are born and grows a year older on the first day of the new year.
South Korea’s National Assembly has now approved legislation requiring the use of age based on date of birth in all judicial and administrative areas.
The measures will come into effect from June 2023, according to the Yonhap News Agency.
Tackling confusion around ages in South Korea was a campaign promise of President Yoon Suk-yeol, who assumed office in May.
