Arthur Cox hosts DCU Brexit Institute conference on financial services
Arthur Cox hosted a recent DCU Brexit Institute conference on the implications of Brexit on Ireland’s financial services industry.
Managing partner Brian O’Gorman welcomed the DCU Brexit Institute and guests to the firm’s offices.
The event was then opened by a keynote address by Joaquín Almunia, former European commissioner for economic and monetary affairs and vice president for competition policy.
A panel discussion chaired by Federico Fabbrini, director of the DCU Brexit Institute, featured Robert Cain, partner at Arthur Cox; Mark Cummins, professor of finance at Dublin City University; Niamh Moloney, professor of law at London School of Economics; and Valerio Scollo, lawyer at GSK Luxembourg.
Ed Sibley, deputy governor of prudential regulation at the Central Bank of Ireland, delivered the closing keynote address.
His speech discussed the possible impacts of Brexit on the Irish economy, the financial services system and financial services firms in Ireland, as well as the possible effect on the regulatory framework and how prepared Irish regulated financial service providers are for Brexit.
