Attorney and former US ambassador to address UCC events
Kevin O’Malley, a distinguished attorney and former US Ambassador to Ireland, is set to attend a number of events at University College Cork during his week-long visit to Cork.
Mr O’Malley, who was ambassador from 2014-16, is the keynote speaker at the Graduands Coffee Morning being held in the Law Common Room at 8.30am on Tuesday.
Separately, he will meet a number of UCC School of Law faculty members, including Professor Irene Lynch-Fannon, Professor John Mee, Dr Claire Murray, Dr Fidelma White and Dr Dug Cubie.
Mr O’Malley is also set to meet the university president, Professor Patrick G. O’Shea, and attend a Cork Chamber breakfast briefing which Taoiseach Leo Varadkar will attend.
Originally from Mayo, Mr O’Malley is a graduate of St Louis University School of Law, a long-standing partner of UCC School of Law. He was appointed adjunct professor at UCC School of Law in September.
He is a former federal prosecutor for the Department of Justice and had a successful career in medical negligence and white collar crime.
