Barrister and ex-TD appears in court on dangerous driving charge
A barrister and former TD has appeared in court accused of dangerous driving and obstructing a garda, the Irish Independent reports.
Michael McNamara, who sat as a Labour TD for Clare from 2011 to 2016, appeared in Killaloe District Court yesterday represented by road traffic law expert Martin Dully BL, who is leading his defence team.
The alleged dangerous driving offence was said to be committed near Mr McNamara’s home in east Clare on 10 December 2016.
Mr McNamara has denied the charges. If convicted, he faces up to six months in jail or a €635 fine on the obstruction charge and up to six months or €127 fine on the dangerous driving charge.
