NI: Barristers triumph over solicitors in charity football match
Northern Ireland barristers bested their solicitor colleagues in a charity football match to raise cash for mental health charity Inspire.
The Belfast Solicitors Association (BSA) failed to claim the inaugural BSA Annual Inspire Charity Cup after losing 4-2 to The Bar of Northern Ireland, but thanked everyone who helped to raise over £2,500 for the charity.
Michael Ward collected the trophy on behalf of his winning team.
Eoghan McKenna, chairperson of the Belfast Solicitors Association, told Irish Legal News: “The BSA would express our gratitude to all those who assisted and participated in the first ever BSA Charity Soccer Cup match recently at Solitude.
“Sadly, the Bar team defeated the solicitor team under the floodlights - but we will be back next year for different result hopefully.
“Most importantly however the wonderful efforts by all have resulted in a further BSA £2,500 contribution to Inspire, our charity partner.”
