NI: Belfast head of Herbert Smith Freehills recognised at Institute of Directors awards
Lisa McLaughlin, head of the Belfast office of global law firm Herbert Smith Freehills (HSF), has been named International Director of Year by the Institute of Directors (IoD) in Northern Ireland.
Ms McLaughlin, the director of the firm’s Alternative Legal Services (ALT) business in the UK, Europe, Middle East and Africa, was recognised at the IoD NI Director of the Year Awards at the Merchant Hotel.
She has overseen the expansion of the ALT offering in Belfast from 19 fee earners in 2011 to over 240 lawyers, technologists and legal analysts today.
Commenting on the award, Ms McLaughlin told Irish Legal News: “I am delighted to have been named International Director of the Year at IoD NI’s 2019 Director of the Year Awards.
“The award is extremely special as it recognises the work that has gone into building our Alternative Legal Services team - globally across our ALT practice group – and, in terms of my leadership journey, especially from the perspective of our teams in Belfast, London and Johannesburg.
“We are continuing to expand across UK & EMEA and it is really exciting to be leading such a talented, ambitious team into the next phase of our evolution.”
