NI: Belfast meeting to explore Honduras and Ireland parallels on women’s rights
Honduran women’s rights defender Regina Fonseca will address a Belfast meeting hosted by Amnesty International, Alliance for Choice and Frontline Defenders next week.
Ms Fonseca is director of international advocacy at the Women’s Rights Centre (CDM) in Honduras, having spent years working as the coordinator of the sexual and reproductive rights programme of the organisation.
She will discuss the organisation’s work to raise awareness of sexual and reproductive rights, with a particular emphasis on young women in a country where abortion is criminalised.
The meeting will explore parallels between the strict legislative regimes of Honduras and both Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
