Book examining legal cases that changed Ireland to be launched in Dublin
A new book examining key legal cases which have brought about significant social change in Ireland will be launched in Dublin later this month.
Legal Cases that Changed Ireland, published by Clarus Press and edited by Professor Ivana Bacik and Dr Mary Rogan, is based on a 2015 series of seminars under four themes exploring the relationship between legal action and social change.
Professor Bacik told Irish Legal News: “Over the years we have seen a series of legal cases taken by individuals which have contributed significantly to bringing about progressive social change in Ireland.
“In this book we acknowledge the bravery of litigants like Mairin de Burca, David Norris and Lydia Foy, and seek to celebrate their achievements, while analysing their impact upon Irish society.”
Ms Justice Catherine McGuinness will be the special guest speaker at the book’s launch in Trinity College Dublin on Thursday 22 June.
